Golf pro Bart Bryant killed in two-vehicle crash

The golf world suffered a major shock when a well-known golf pro was killed in a traffic accident. While not a household name, golfer Bart Bryant was quietly successful on the PGA Tour, winning three tournaments before choosing semi-retirement.  News of Bryant’s death spread quickly across the country.

The accident

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Bryant and his wife were traveling north on State Roade 33 and were stopped waiting for a construction crew to clear construction equipment such as flags, cones and signs near Polk City. While Bryant was stopped, his SUV was struck in the rear end by a Ford F-150 pickup truck traveling southbound at approximately 60 mph.

According to the authorities, the pickup truck failed to obey numerous stop signs near the construction site, and sheriff’s deputies offered no explanation for the truck’s excessive speed or failure to stop.

When emergency responders arrived at the accident scene, they found Bryant to be unresponsive. They administered CPR until Bryant arrived at a nearby hospital, where he died as the result of his injuries. Bryant’s wife suffered only minor injuries.

The consequences

Bryant’s death will mean a great loss for his family, in terms of both financial and emotional support. His family appears to have a solid case for a wrongful death claim against the pickup truck driver and his insurer.

Conclusion

Anyone who has lost a loved one under similar circumstances may wish to consider making a claim for wrongful death damages. An experienced personal injury attorney can provide a helpful analysis of the evidence and an opinion on the likelihood of recovering damages for wrongful death.
